I met Mr. Toner while I was an instructor at Bishop Manogue. He was a huge part of the school, teaching numerous catechist classes as well as holding down the position of President. Mr. Toner knew all the "secrets" of the placing of the icons at Manogue - why they were placed where they were, how we came to have two of the same picture and why we had a picture with a large hole in it. Mr. Toner was loved by everyone. He had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and important. He had a winning smile that was always accompanied by sparkling eyes and a genuine love for everyone he met. He never said a demeaning word to anyone and I never heard a cross word leave his lips. He was a truly amazing man, a dedicated family man, an ethical, loving man and an example to all of us about what true Christian/Catholic love and acceptance should be. His quiet manner was accompanied by resolve of steel. His spirit will always live at Manogue. While he will be horribly missed, it's a comfort to know that we all have a friend/guardian/angel in Heaven. May God bless his family as they deal with this loss and may He give them the strength they need. May it also be a comfort to them to know that Mr. Toner was loved by so many people and that he will be greatly missed.
