Verne passed away surrounded by loved ones after an extended illness on Monday, April 16, 2018 at Renown Medical Center in Reno, Nevada. He was born in Vallejo, California on August 26, 1935 and moved to Reno in 1961. Verne retired with over 33 years of military service as a USAF Master Sergeant, last serving in 1994 with the Air National Guard as an aircraft mechanic.
Survivors include his wife, Paula Lyons Rigdon, daughters, Cherie' Grime, Shelly Luke and Sharon Brush (Dan), son, Robert (Wendy), stepchildren, Colleen, Jeff (Deanna), grandchildren, Kyle (Bre), Derrick, Savanna, Tara, Jordyn, Alexa, Kori, and Zach, and great-granddaughter, Charlotte.
Verne honored his faith through the guidance and community of the Calvary Chapel congregation. Private family services will be held at the Fernley Veterans' Cemetery where he will be interred.
