Obituary for James "Jim" Herbert Berkbigler
James “Jim” Herbert Berkbigler, 83, returned to his heavenly home on August 30, 2017 after a long, wonderful life filled with love and joy.
Jim was born to Herbert and Irma Berkbigler on September 23, 1933. He was the oldest of nine brothers and sisters. He graduated from the University of St. Louis before joining the U.S. Air Force, and then moving on to the private sector.
Jim relocated to Reno, NV in 1976 from Minnesota and retired from CIBA-Geigy Pharmaceuticals in 1993. He spent his retirement with his wife and family, golfing, traveling, and generally enjoying life.
Jim was blessed with a large and loving family. He married his best friend, Marsha Lee Berkbigler, on December 16, 1977 in Reno, NV, unifying their family of seven children.
Jim is survived by wife Marsha; children Rik, Vikki, Lori, Christi, Terri, Deron and Alicia; 14 grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, four brothers, three sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.
A wake will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Walton’s Funeral Home, Sierra Chapel, 875 W. 2nd Street in Reno.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Our Lady of Snows Catholic Church, 1138 Wright Street in Reno. A reception will immediately follow at the Peppermill Hotel, Tuscany Ballroom. Please join us for reminiscing and a lite lunch.
