Virginia Bennett Questa passed away peacefully from natural causes April 13, 2017 at the age of 95.
Born November 2, 1921 to Roy H. Bennett and Lucille Milner Bennett in Idaho Falls, Idaho, she attended Idaho State University and the University of Idaho at Moscow and was a member of the Tri Delta Sorority. Receiving a teaching credential in both Idaho and Nevada she began her career teaching elementary school in Ucon, Idaho. Then she moved to Nevada to teach in Las Vegas followed by two years teaching in Hawthorne during WW II.
After moving to Reno to teach at McKinley Park Elementary she met and married Donald Questa, a businessman from a long-time Nevada family. After their son, Craig, was born she thoroughly enjoyed life as a mother and wife.
Virginia loved traveling and new adventures. In the 60's, after spending time in Hawaii, she began a love affair with the islands that continued throughout her life. After his retirement as Washoe County Comptroller, Don and Virginia enjoyed traveling extensively around the world and participating in trap and skeet shoots annually in Nevada, California, Idaho, Wyoming, Hawaii and British Columbia along with fishing trips to Vancouver Island.
Virginia was a lady in every sense; from her elegant dressing to her quick wit and fast humor. She was warm, friendly, supportive and strong.
She loved to dress up and visit large cities, but her true love was being with family in nature. Whether it be walking along the shores of Lake Tahoe, picnics at Jenny Lake in Grand Teton National Park or watching the sunset in Hawaii - that's when she was happiest.
Her yearly trips to visit relatives and childhood friends in Idaho brought back warm memories of summers during high school and college working at a soda fountain in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
She was a member of the 20th Century Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, two bridge groups and a longtime supporter of the Nevada Humane Society, Animal Ark, CAAW and KNPB.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Questa, and her sister and brother-in-law, Jennie Lee and Arden Lee of Idaho. (In Idaho Falls, Arden, Jennie and Virginia were instrumental in the development of the Albertson's Shopping Center, Shopko, Sam's Club and Home Depot.)
She is survived by her son, Craig Questa; nephew Bennett Lee (Judy); grand-nieces Rori Lee and Erin Lee; great-grandnephew, Maxwell Rooney and great-grandniece, Marley Rooney.
The family wishes to thank Nanette Lusanta and the Assisted Living staff at Five Star Premier Residence of Reno and Kindred Hospice, not just for their professionalism but also for their caring help and friendship.
A memorial and Celebration of Virginia's life will be held in Reno this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nevada Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
