Having known Bobby all his life I feel devastated that this happened. Even when he was young he was so advanced and smart for his age, a perfect model of the firstborn big brother. I knew he would be a lawyer like his father. He always had the verbiage but with a great heart. I had not seen him for years and it brings me so much joy to know the things he accomplished and the plans he had for the future, the people he helped and people he was striving to help. It is a great loss not only for his friends and family but for his community. I was blessed to have known him. My heart goes out to his family.

Hello Bobby, It is difficult to accept what has happened, while still envisioning your perpetually vibrant persona - so upbeat, energetic, swanky, edgy, and totally living in the moment. I stare at your photos on my iPhone and hope you can hear what I've been saying to you out loud. I will dearly miss that powerful presence in all of our lives. I will even miss the way you used to spar with me, and I would do anything to be able to have another go at it with you. When I was in your presence, I was constantly reminded of my own two sons. One humorous example is the way in which you drove, and I think that anyone who has ever been a passenger of yours knows exactly what I mean. My 30 year-old son, drives in a similar manner. When he spent a year living in China, I considered him to be a terror on the streets of Beijing. He once seemed like he was about to plow down a woman pushing a baby stroller, but he would strongly disagree. His soon-to-be 29 year-old brother, is more like you in the verbal sparring department. I truly regret that you all never had the chance to get to know one another. There was no doubt in my mind that you would have had a brilliant legal career early on, following right in your father's footsteps. The two of you were very similar - a virtual chip off the old block, especially in regard to your work. You were just as sharp and focused, knowledgeable, articulate, enthusiastic, and totally committed to the case at hand. I was always in awe whenever I overheard the two of you discussing complicated legal matters in great depth, and all the while, you were totally enjoying one another's company. When not engaged in serious matters, you were the life of the party, with your unique sense of humor and your witty repartee. I always enjoyed our family get-togethers, and you certainly loved your Rottweiler "puppy" Axel, or is it spelled Axle or Axl? I like Axl. You interacted with him and trained him with the eagerness of an excited child. I could never get Axl to stop chasing after me and licking my lotioned legs, though. And why couldn't you control that, Bobby? Because it was my fault for running away from him in the first place, you'd say. You would have made an awesome dad. My heart goes out to all those whose lives you brightened, especially your dad, Robert, who I know best. Robert's love for you and for all of his children is immeasurable and eternal. Your spirit is eternal too, Bobby, as is the spirit of your dear sister, Chantal.

Bobby represented homeowner's in a number of foreclosure mediations where I was the mediator. He was a zealous advocate who truly took his work to heart. He professionally represented his clients and helped many families through the work that he did for them. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I used to love whenever any of the Hagar's came to my Chiropractic office. The entire family are "a family with heart". They are all exceptional people. Bobby always tried to do the right thing, and set an example by constantly asking how he could better himself. I was so proud of him and gave him extra "Atta Boy's" as he went through college and law school. I am so sad to hear of his passing. I picture Bobby going through the Pearly Gates of heaven and saying to St. Peter "Okay, I want to talk to the man in charge, we need to make some changes around here." Hugs to you Bobby. Bob - After being in the legal profession for well over 30 years I have learned that only rarely, very rarely, does one have the privilege of meeting and working with a Bobby Hagar . . . a sincere combination of intelligence and common sense coupled with limitless passion and energy. Bobby’s abundance of positive energy was naturally and intentionally contagious. During the all too brief period of time we worked together, I came away from every encounter I had with Bobby both encouraged and energized . . . this was one of the many blessings Bobby unselfishly imparted to others. Recalling these blessings help lessen the blow of this tremendous loss.

Bobby was a law student who took my class in Criminal Procedure. One day after class we were enjoying an exchange recognizing that in many ways the "war on drugs" had become a war on the Fourth Amendment. I happened to mention to him that this "story line" had become "personal" in that my youngest son had become addicted to street drugs. Our conversations ended up with Bobby inviting my young son to join him at an AA meeting down on Sunset and Pecos; and Bobby got in the habit of dropping Trent off at home after several meetings. In January of 2010, Bobby actually helped me drive my kid to the Palm Springs area to a drug treatment facility. I could never adequately describe the helpfulness, friendliness, and kindness that Bobby showed my kid in all kinds of different ways. And Bobby was equally helpful, as well as non-judgmental, when he learned that the kid had "bolted" from the facility shortly at "detox." Later in the Spring, we even gave a try to a place near Reno, recommended to me by Bobby; Trent didn't really "make it" there either. But he has continued on his journey, and now is squarely engaged in a meaningful recovery program. Trent was truly saddened when I shared with him the news of Bobby's death. In another's story, I read of Bobby's remarkable enthusiasm for things he believed in and was committed to. That clearly is the most pressing thing that comes to my mind as well. When I have thoughts about Bobby, and my various encounters with him, my mood is ALWAYS enhanced. Here was a soul who had lots to offer and was more than willing to offer what he had to give. I am so grateful that my family became closely acquainted with Bobby and was able to spend some precious time with him. I will ALWAYS BE GRATEFUL for his readiness to become engaged with my son and to share his comparable experiences and stories. Bobby was as big-hearted as they come, and was able to give fully without judgment. I will cherish memories of times well-spent, but will always wish our relatively brief encounters were only prelude to a longer, satisfying association. I'm certain that Bobby's immediate family must find this turn of events unbelievable--heavens know I do! I hope they know the condolences that all of us give them; and I'm confident their memories are more satisfying and complete than ours can be. I'm just grateful to have enjoyed the friendship and help received by being involved with our good friend, Bobby.

I am the Building Engineer for the Arlington Towers. I met Bobby shortly after I started in December of 2011. He offered to have me meet an engineer friend of his that new a great deal about Arlington Towers. That person was a great help to me in my new position. For that I will be forever greatful to Bobby. I will miss seeing him and seeing him around the building!

Even though Bobby and I are so very different we became good friends in law school. He and was a great man. I will miss him a great deal. The world lost a great man. He was so kind to me when my father passed. When no one else realized my pain, Bobby did. My prayers are with your family.

I remember Bobby very well--not only was he one of my Contracts students, but he was also in my Enron seminar. His enthusiasm was contagious. He really enjoyed the investigation that he did while writing his seminar paper. I am so very sorry for your loss.

Bobby used to get into the details of MERS, or Jiu Jitsu, or any other topic at the drop of a hat, while killing time outside of school. He was always in a cheery mood, and always had this exuberance about him. Bobby was a stand up guy, and I always appreciated that he walked to the beat of his own drummer. My thoughts go out to his family, and to those that were close with him. Rest in Peace Bobby and Chantel.

Bobby- As my memories of you come flooding in, it is hard to pick the one or two to share. So, instead I want everyone to know about the great man I know. Your kindness knew no limits – I have seen you literally give someone the shirt off of your back. Seriously, who gives a seven and nine year old $100 EACH for Christmas? You were not just generous with money; you were so very generous with the truth. I have never known anyone that embraces the truth the way you always did. It was so easy to become close to you because there was so much honesty between us. Even when it offended the more sensitive listener, everything you said was true (and, usually, funny). You were also so great with kids. I am so sad you did not have the chance to have your own. Your spirit connected with children – and not just because you’re fun and mischievous, but because you are a natural born mentor. You have even told me “don’t make my mistakes” and that you did and said things because were looking out for me. You believed in love with so much heart. Your passion was obvious to everyone but I wonder if they knew you were always such a hopeless romantic. You were also your own worse critic. I believe you were too hard on yourself. I know you blame yourself for Chantal and nothing anyone ever said or did could change that. I still don’t know why you never believed that you possess so much greatness. Oh, here’s a memory for me to share: The day I excitedly told you I had it figured out. You are the anti-girl: girls always put out their best side and hide their downside and all the bad parts until you get to know them but not you. You put out the worst about you and it wasn’t until someone got to know you that it becomes so obvious that you really are a generous, kind, brilliant, and wonderful man. Your response to my epiphany was that it was the reward for having the patience to put up with you. I never understood that because I’ve never been a patient person and I love you just the way you are. Your story was never supposed to end here. I know you were waiting for me to be done “trying the save the world” so we could be the partners you intended for us to be. Not only did you have big plans but you also had what it takes to get things done. Bobby, I was always proud to stand next to you and that will remain true forever.
