Obituary for Don Melendez

Don Melendez of Reno, Nevada passed away December 27th, 2018 at the age of 90. He was born in Reno, Nevada on October 22nd, 1928 to parents Manuel Melendez and Nellie Taylor Melendez.

Don was a member of the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe and lived on the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony.

Don attended Stewart Indian School where he met his wife, Sally Kaye Melendez. They were married for 73 years. Don Worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 15 years, and for ABC Block for 20 years.

Don is preceded in death by his parents Manuel and Nellie; brothers Louis, Valentine, Harold, Fred and Carlos Melendez. He is survived by his wife Sally; sons Arlan (Joyce), Steve (Cheryl), and Randy (Catherine); sisters Rose Rodriguez, Josephine Shores, Nancy Ortero and numerous relatives, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will commence Friday, January 4th at 11:00am at the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony Gymnasium. Burial will be at the Hungry Valley Memorial Cemetery followed by dinner at the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony Gymnasium. Viewing will be held on Thursday, January 3rd from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Walton-Ross Burke Knoble Mortuary, located at 2155 Kietzke Lane Reno, NV.
