Lacel Ewing Bland (84) passed away peacefully on November 14, 2018.

Lacel, the first son of Ewing and Lena Bland, was born February 6, 1934 in Cedar County, Missouri and grew up on a working farm in Black Jack, Missouri. After graduating El Dorado Springs High School in May 1951 he joined the Bureau of Land Management as a surveyor. In December 1955 Lacel married Earnestine (Best) and they immediately left for Ely, Nevada to survey the Western States. Lacel and Earnestine lived in eleven states before permanently settling in Reno, Nevada. Lacel described his best career decision as retirement. He retired as Chief of Cadastral Survey with BLM in 1989.

Lacel was a life-long hunting, trapping and fishing enthusiast. He loved camping in the Ruby Mountains, the thrill of the hunt and the joy of bragging about his trophies to anyone who would listen and look at his photos. He also loved boasting about the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren.

Lacel is survived by his wife, Earnestine; his brothers: Randal and Dennis D.; and his children: Cheryl (Ed) Crawford, Ken (Connie) Bland, Sandy (Steve) Schulze and Kelly (Annette) Bland. He is additionally survived by ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial Services will be held on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 12:30pm at the Ross, Burke & Knobel Mortuary, 2155 Kietzke Lane, Reno, Nevada.
