Obituary for Nevalyn "Kay" Hineman

Nevalyn “Kay” Hineman, died peacefully in her home on November 13, 2018 in Gardnerville, Nevada at the age of 82. Her heroic battle with cancer ended as she was surrounded by her family and friends.

Kay is survived by her husband, Franklin “Jim” Hineman, of Gardnerville, NV. Her grandchildren Thomas Wold of Atlanta, GA; Jonathan and Lisa Richards of Riverside, CA; Marjorie and Caleb May of Newton, KS; and Jenna Richards of Dayton, NV; and her 6 great grandchildren. Kay was preceded in death by her brother Major Lawrence Redwine, Jr. US Airforce, Retired, and her children, Herbert W. Prosser III and Susan Richards.

Kay was born on March 3, 1936 in Enid, Oklahoma to Lawrence Redwine and Millie Anderson. She graduated from Jordan High School in Long Beach, CA and attended Orange Coast College. She was an Office Manager for Pacific Southwest Heating and Air Conditioning. Kay and Jim relocated from La Palma, CA in 1997 to Gardnerville, NV, where they have spent their years enjoying the community and admiring the beauty of the Sierras. Kay spent her time with her family and doing what she loved, sewing and crafting. She was a member of Shepard’s of the Sierra Lutheran Church.

A funeral is scheduled for Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 11am, at Shepherd of the Sierra Lutheran Church. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Kay’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the SPCA on her behalf.
