Obituary for Karen Ann Wolak

Print
Karen was born in Utica, New York to Edna and Steven Huzarewicz. She graduated from Utica Catholic Academy and attended Mohawk Valley Community College. She married Andrew “Drew” Wolak and moved west first to Kansas, then on to Nevada in 1978. They had two children, Dr. Amber Hayes and Katelyn Wolak. She had great pride in her daughters.

Animals were a big part of her life and she surrounded herself with Dogs, Cats, and Birds. She was also a member of the local bird club.

When her first grandchild Allison was born, her purpose had shifted to Grandma and full time babysitting gave her great joy. When Kristen and then William were born, she could not be any happier. This was a great help to Amber who was also finishing Medical School. Later her Son-in-Law Brien Hayes gradated from Law School. He credited Karen with her never ending care of the children. This was not work to her but pure joy.

Karen is survived by her husband Drew of Reno NV, mother-in-law, Janet Hucal Wolak of New York Mill, New York, and daughters Katelyn Wolak of Reno NV, Dr. Amber Hayes and son-in law Brien Hayes of Wingfield Springs, NV, father Steven Huzarewicz of Utica, her sister Sue and brother-in law Pete Sumner of Clayton, North Carolina and her Brother Tom Huzarewicz of Oneida, New York,

Karen will be greatly missed.

Burial was held on Saturday, Nov. 3 at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Reno NV.
