Condolence: Dr. Ahlstrom was a good man; kind, compassionate, exceedingly competent, and witty. He really ‘got’ my mom and was, therefore, the perfect doctor for her. We’re so terribly sorry for your loss, Walli and family. You’re all in our thoughts and prayers.

Condolence: Hello Ahlstrom Family,
I had the benefit of teaching with Dr Ahlstrom on Friday for a few years. He was jay to be around with his dry incisive wit. He was truly a student first instructor who cared nothing for nonsensical school rules if they interfered with patient care. I will miss him and his nonintended charisma. He could make everyone feel they were important and I think he really meant it.
On a humorous note I have a fu-Manchu style mustache and when he returned to teaching a fellow faculty member told me I had a “junior Ahlstrom “

Condolence: Dear Walli,
While Robert was attending UOP he would often come into the Dental Lab in San Rafael to visit with Russ and I. His enthusiasm and love for dentistry was evident from first impression on. His attention to detail was something a dental technician noticed right off the bat. I later reconnected with him when I started working at the University.
That was a bonus to me. He was a true doctor in the since as he truly cared for the patient. It was a trait of his the students and faculty saw immediately. I think it was one of his more endearing features. Dentistry needs more Roberts!
So sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you, Brook, RW and your family.

Condolence: I am the staff photographer at Pacific Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco. Dr. Ahlstrom was one of my best friends. He was quick to point out the absurdity of burdensome protocols and we would frequently share a private laugh. The oral surgery unit at UOP never seemed the same after he left. My school lost a great man. Over the years I tried to hookup with Bob when I visited Reno, but never got responses when messages were left at his practice. I wish I could have goofed around a few more times with him on his own turf - out there in the wild-wild WEST. I love you, blood brother.

Condolence: Dear Walli,

I remember you and Bob from when I was teaching at UOP, and Norm Beesley sent me Bob's Obituary. I would occasionaly ask Norm about you, knowing that you had settled in Reno. Bob was one of my favorite students, and I was absolutely delighted when he went on to Chapel Hill. His photo looks exactly as I remember him - we just gained a few wrinkles. I know how difficult this is for you, and I just wanted you to know that my thoughts are with you.

Condolence: Dear Walli (Meyers to me) My heartfelt sympathy for your loss. I will always remember Robert and his epic mustache. I could never grow one half as grand. Robert was a wonderful guy and a marvelous dentist and dental school professor and I was privileged to know him in dental school and beyond. I hope your kids and grandkids keep you warm and wrapped in memories of Robert that will last for all your days. Your old dental school chum...bales

Condolence: I'm so sorry to read of the loss of your dear Robert. Even though I didn't know him I can tell by his photo and his line of work he was someone that will be very missed. Death is spoken of as our enemy and it's not until we lose someone close to us, especially when it's unexpected, that we understand the truth of that statement.
May you find comfort knowing he's in our loving Creator's memory and because he's the God of the living not the dead we can hang on to that hope when we can welcome back our loved ones in that grand resurrection.
With warm regards,
Beth

Condolence: I was practicing periodontics in Reno when Robert appeared on the dental scene. He was most welcome because he brought a new level of comprehensive dentistry and skill to Reno as the area's first specialist in prosthodontics. He had a keen analytical mind and a kind heart and I am sad to hear of his passing.
