Obituary for Nancy Lyn Walker

August 8, 1956 – July 31, 2018

Nanci Lyn Walker passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital in Reno, NV on July 31, 2018 after a brief illness. Nanci was born in Reno to Mead and Maxine Walker on August 8, 1956. She attended Elmcrest Elementary, Clayton Middle School and graduated from Reno High School in 1974. She went on to marry her high school sweetheart Wade Alan Thomas in 1975, and then moved to California where she attended and graduated from Heald Business College. Nanci then returned to Reno where she worked for Nevada State Bank. It was at this time that Nanci started her family. Nanci left her job at the bank in 1985 to work as a bookkeeper at her fathers-in-laws business, Jet Drain, Inc. She played an integral part in the growth and success of that company and eventually became part owner until her recent retirement. Nanci devoted a great deal of her time and energy on developing that business and helping it thrive.
Nanci is preceded in death by both her mother Maxine, father Mead, and granddaughter Haylie Terry. Nanci is survived by her four children, Tara (Jason) Terry, Amy (Ron) Coombs, Katie Warren and Wade Thomas, seven grandchildren, Evan, James and Logan Terry, Jackson and McKinley Coombs, Hunter Ramsey and Landon Warren. She is also survived by her three brothers, Bob Walker, Ronald (Becky) Walker, and James (Robin) Walker.
Nanci was a devoted wife and mother and spent her entire life taking care of others with little thought of herself. Her greatest joy was her family and everything that she did reflected her deep love for her children, grandchildren, and extended family. Her favorite time of year was the holiday season as it created the opportunity to bring the entire family together to share a meal with one another and make memories. Nanci was also a fierce and loyal friend. She will be deeply missed by everyone that knew her.
A memorial service will be held on August 22nd, 2018 at 11:00 am at Walton’s Funeral Home, 875 W. 2nd Street. A Celebration of Life will follow at Our Lady of Snows Parish Center.
