Obituary for Jacqueline Jean Porter

Jacqueline Jean Porter passed away at her home on June 23, 2018. Jackie was born in Reno, Nevada on August 22, 1966 to parents Ron and Marlys Porter. Jackie grew up in Reno and attended Roy Gomm Elementary, Swope Middle School, and Reno High School. She loved school and made many life-long friends. Jackie idolized horses and was a huge Dodgers fan. She also enjoyed running and was on the track team in school. Jackie was a sun-seeker and after high school, she traveled to Hawaii and eventually moved there for a few years, but her love for her family brought her back to Reno. She worked for America West Airlines and other jobs as she attended college. She loved history and Social Studies and graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a BS in Criminal Justice.

Jackie enjoyed life and cherished every moment. Unfortunately at the prime of her life, she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Jackie accepted this challenge and never backed down. Her determination and positive attitude never diminished. While she valiantly learned to battle MS, Jackie settled into a career at the Washoe County Courthouse as Pre Trial Court Officer. She was passionate with her work in helping others with their own personal battles. Her imbedded strength, self-less courage, and un-suppressed tenacity made her an inspiration to anyone who knew her. Jackie is survived by her mother, Marlys, her two brothers, Gary and Mike, and her nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers the family would like to have donations made on her behalf to the Multiple Sclerosis Society under her name.
