Obituary for James Paul Harris

I went home on May 5, 2018. Who would have thought that a coal miner's son, born on June 22, 1937, from Pikeville, KY., would have had such a full and colorful life.
I proudly served in the Navy on the USS Homme Richard CVA-31, had multiple entrepreneurial adventures, but my true passion was music. I loved to write country-western songs and even recorded an album with the Vancouver, B.C. Philharmonic.
I played rhythm guitar, entertained audiences and sang with my brother in the band, Whiskey ridge and with my sister in Whiskey Rose. Whenever family, friends or an audience left smiling and happy, my heart felt great!
To my wife, what can I say except I loved you with all my heart. To my family, especially my kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, who I am so proud, and friends, thank you for making my life one hell of a ride.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 11:30 am, Saturday, August 11, 2018 at the First Baptist Church, Sun Valley. In lieu of flowers, donate to a cause that means the world to you.
