Obituary for Robert Eugene Stroupe

Robert Eugene Stroupe, 81, died on May 11, 2018 in Reno, Nevada. Robert (Bob) was born June 22, 1936 in Memphis, Tennessee. He lived most of his life in Northern Ohio before moving to Nevada.
Bob is survived by three sisters, Betty Jo Brewer, Martha Ann Hall and Pam Duffy; three sons, Jim (Bonnie) Stroupe, Kevin (Kristin) Stroupe and Brian (Sallie) Dillon; ten grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
Bob served in the Air Force and was a radio DJ on the Armed Forces Network. He was a licensed private pilot with a love of aviation. He also was an entrepreneur throughout his life with a passion for business. He owned and operated businesses including one of the first cable TV systems in Ohio, a local newspaper and TV station, a car dealership, a gas station and an air freight service.
Bob was a naturally charming person so it was rumored his family tree is larger than officially documented due to “activities” during his younger years.
Bob was a kind person with a great sense of humor who never had a bad word to say about anyone, excluding lawyers and the Internal Revenue Service. He always enjoyed a good conversation with anyone he met. Bob was thankful for Alcoholics Anonymous which helped him, after many attempts, to maintain his sobriety long-term.
His adored Chihuahua (Princess) was consistently spoiled during their time together.
Bob was preceded in death by his father and mother, John and Leola Stroupe; his son Robby Stroupe and his wife of over fifty years Bobbie Jean Stroupe.
At Bob’s request no services will be held, but feel free to strike up a conversation with a stranger, have a vodka/orange juice and play some video poker in his memory.
