In loving memory of George Hamlin Woodward, born on January 8, 1935, and departed this world from his home, on April 18, 2018. George is survived by his two sons, Robert and Joel Woodward, with their wives Heather and Karen Woodward and daughter Nancy Woodward. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. George was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joyce Ann Miller, who passed away in July of 2010.

George was born in Fallon, Nevada, to Grant T. Woodward and Ruth Hamlin Murray in 1935. George grew up alongside his older brother, Robert, and his younger sister Anita, who have also proceeded him in death. George graduated from the University of Nevada Reno and completed his post graduate work at Utah State University. He earned a degree in mathematics, and an additional degree in agriculture. While attending UNR, he was a member of Theta Ki Fraternity, and was very involved in the LDS Institute, Sierra Singers choir, under the direction, of his dear friend, Ladd Cropper. He met his eternal companion, Joyce Miller, on a blind date in 1959. They were introduced by mutual friends, and almost immediately, became inseparable. They were later married on June 26th, 1961 in the Salt Lake Temple. George was a very active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and served in many church callings, including serving as a church historian, counselor and bishop. George also filled two missions for the church as a full time missionary, one in a stake calling and the other, in the Saskatchewan, Canada Mission. In 1964, George and Joyce started their family, with a set of twin boys, Robert and Joel, soon to be followed 3 years later, with daughter Nancy. George was a very caring husband and father, who taught the importance of patience and love within the home, always putting his family first, above all other obligations. George had many talents, including having quite a green thumb. He grew a large beautiful garden every summer, providing many of the neighbors with fresh vegetables and often Halloween pumpkins. George also enjoyed fishing and hunting in the Nevada outdoors, and was an avid supporter of UNR as well as Reno High School. George also had the opportunity to positively influence thousands of local high school students, over the lifetime of his professional career, as a math educator, and department chairman, for the Washoe County School District. After retiring from the school district, George was able to serve a full-time mission, for the Church Education System, along with his wife, Joyce, in 2002. George impacted the lives of many and loved nothing more than being with his family and friends and helping them through life's challenges. He was much appreciated, and will be sorely missed, by his friends and, especially his family.

A memorial service will be held in his honor at the LDS church on Golconda Way, on April 23, 2018, commencing at 11:00 A.M. and followed by a graveside ceremony at the Mountain View Cemetery at 12:30P.M.
