Obituary for John Parker Kerwin

John Parker Kerwin was born in 1943 in Clarksdale, Mississippi. Two years later, his father returned from WWII and their family relocated to Oakland, California. When he became a man, John enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed at Beale Air Force Base. After the Air Force, John served in the California Highway Patrol and then in the BART Police in the San Francisco Bay Area. He attained the rank of Commander, serving a total of 35 years in law enforcement. John proudly served as the President of the BART Police Officer’s Association and later as President of the BART Police Management Association. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration at the University of San Francisco and attended Law School at JFK University. John was a graduate of the 189th Session of the FBI National Academy (1997). After retiring from law enforcement, John was a Security Director at Xilinx and at the East Bay Municipal Utility District. Since 2004, Northwest Reno has been his home.
John was an avid marksman and hunter, enjoyed golf, and loved to taunt his dear poker companions.
