Obituary for Ana Maria "Anita" Jimenez Guzman

Ana Maria "Anita" Jimenez Guzman
Ana Maria Jimenez Guzman, 86, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on the evening of February 14, 2018 in Reno, Nevada.

Anita was born October 8, 1931 in La Piedad, Michoacan, Mexico to Jose Jimenez and Manuela Ramirez. She was married to Juan Manuel Guzman on February 23, 1954. In 1960 she moved to Elko, Nevada from Mexico City and was employed by the Stockmen’s Motor Hotel until the time of her retirement in October of 1997.

Anita was an active member of Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church and enjoyed serving as Spanish lector as well as teaching Spanish Baptism classes. She was well known as “Madrina” due to being Godmother for 99 children throughout her lifetime. “God first” was her motto in life.

Nothing brightened her day more than being around family and large social groups. She loved to sing and she joyfully led family and friends with her beautiful and strong voice in classical Mexican songs of her youth, be it at gatherings at home or at picnic lunches in Lamoille Canyon. Good food, drink, and laughter shared with loved ones made for many wonderful memories in a blessed 86 years of life.

Anita was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Manuel. Survivors include daughters: Letty Guzman Garcia and Tichy Guzman Torres; sons: Alex and George Guzman; as well as nine grandchildren and twelve great -grandchildren.
