Life Story for Marshall R. Hyne

Marshall R. Hyne, 90
Marshall Raymond Hyne, 90, of Yerington, Nevada, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at Renown Hospital in Reno surrounded by family. Marshall was born in Santa Barbara, California, to Raymond Floyd Hyne and Harriett Buchanan Hyne. The son of a plumber, pipe fitter, and artist, Marshall grew up in Napa where his father worked in the Mare Island Navy Shipyard. Marshall attended Napa Union High School and Napa Junior College where he met his sweetheart with the beautiful brown eyes, Frances Lucy Ianziti. Marshall and Frances married in 1952 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Napa.
Marshall worked for Napa Builder’s Supply, Mare Island Navy Shipyard, Christian Brothers Winery, California Napa Tannery, Basalt Rock Co.-Steel Products Division, United States Post Office, and Trewitt Shields, and Fisher Construction during his formative and college years. Marshall graduated from Chico State in 1954 where he earned his teaching credential and taught elementary school in Redwood Valley.
In 1958, Marshall moved with his beloved wife, Frances, and their then three children to Yerington where he had secured a teaching position. Mr. Hyne taught generations of children at Yerington Elementary and Intermediate School teaching Math, Civics, and Geography. His five children all graduated from Yerington High School. Marshall Hyne was an avid reader and enjoyed the outdoors. He taught himself to be a farmer, led by his youngest son, Bart, and fellow neighboring farmers. He was an active member of the Nichol-Merritt Ditch Company as part of the Walker River Irrigation District, and enjoyed Indian motorcycles and sidecars.
Marshall and Frances raised five children in Yerington and celebrated their 61th wedding anniversary in July of 2013. Marshall was preceded in death by his son, Bart, and his wife, Frances. He is survived by his children: Raymond Hyne (Cheri Maynick), Eric Hyne (Terri Hyne), Maria Hyne Blaiotta (John Blaiotta), Alice Hyne Coffman (Eric Coffman); 12 Grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren and counting.
Marshall was interred at a family graveside service at Walton’s Chapel of the Valley Gardens in Carson City on January 3, 2018.
