Obituary for Evalyn Matthiesen
Evalyn Matthiesen, 82, passed peacefully January 2, 2018 after a long battle with dementia.
Born July 19, 1935 in Overton, NV, she came to Reno after her graduation from Moapa Valley High in 1953 to attend cosmetology school. She met and married the love of her life, Reno native, Cecil Neil Matthiesen. She was survived by her husband of 63 years; her sister, Katherine Leavitt; two daughters, Janiel and Diane; four grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Friday, January 12, 2018 at LDS Church, 1095 Golconda Dr. Reno NV 89509. Viewing will begin at 9:30 am in the Relief Society Room, followed by a remembrance at 11:00 am. The graveside dedication will be held at the Masonic Memorial Gardens at 437 Stoker Ave. in Reno following the church services.
