Theodore (Ted) Rolfs, age 68, died peacefully in his home on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 following a courageous battle with cancer. He left this world surrounded by his devoted and loving wife and children. Ted was born in Wenatchee Washington on June 7, 1949 and was the youngest of two sons born to Harlan and Belva Rolfs. Ted graduated from East Wenatchee HS, then attended college at Washington State University where he studied art and art education, and later received his BA and MBA from UNR. Ted worked in Wenatchee as a paramedic for Ballard Ambulance services and later progressed to manage the selling of equipment and ambulances for the company. After his marriage to Diane Hipenbecker in 1983, they moved to Reno Nevada to pursue Ted’s career with Medic 1 Ambulance Service in 1986. His most precious and proud achievement, twins, Bethany and Richard were born in 1988.
Ted retired from the Washoe County Water Resources Dept. as the fiscal compliance officer after 20+ years of service. Ted spent three happy years of retirement doing the things he loved: camping, reading, putzing in his shop, and pursuing his commitment to lifelong learning. In August, Ted was able to fulfill his dream of walking his baby girl down the aisle at her wedding. Ted is survived by his wife, Diane, Son, Richard of Reno, and Daughter, Beth (Kale) Smimmo of NYC. Ted was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Richard (Dick). Memorial Service will be held at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 3835 Lakeside Dr. Reno, NV at 3pm on Saturday January 6, 2018.
