Shale   Macks
Shale Macks, 61, passed away November 4th, 2017 after a brief hospital stay.

Shale was born February 4, 1956 in Omaha, Nebraska to Alan and Connie Macks (nee Sadofsky); Shale's family, which included Janis, his sister, and Tyson, his brother, moved to Merritt Island, Florida, Shale graduating from Merritt Island High School in 1974. Shale made his way out west and lived in California for several years, playing drums in the Laswell Avenue Band.

Shale returned to Florida and again pursued music. He met Lisa (Garofalo) and they played in a band together, traveling Florida. In 1986 Shale and Lisa married and he began in sales at Sysco Foodservice. Rachel was born in 1988. Shale and Lisa divorced in 1990, then remarried in 1992. Shale transferred to Sysco in the Bay Area and the family relocated to Benicia, California in 1993. Alek was born in 1994. They moved to Elk Grove, California, then Reno, Nevada.

While in Reno, Shale acquired his funeral director license, fulfilling a lifelong interest in the death care industry, and began work for a local funeral home. He accepted a sales position with Batesville Casket Company in Portland, Oregon. Shale and Lisa divorced in 2006. Shale later moved to Matthews Aurora Funeral Solutions and lived in several areas, returning to Reno.

Shale loved music of all kinds, but the Beatles were his all-time favorite. He amassed a large collection of Beatles memorabilia and original albums.

Shale's greatest pleasure was his children and he was a devoted father.

Known for his wicked sense of humor, Shale made friends easily. It is a testament to his outgoing nature and big heart that he has numerous long-term friendships from his teens to the present.

Shale is survived by his children, Rachel Macks of Portland, Oregon and Alek Macks of Wilsonville, Oregon; his mother, Constance Macks, of Cheektowaga, New York; his brother, Tyson Macks, also of Cheektowaga, New York, his sister, Janis Meatyard, of East Aurora, New York, his niece and nephew, Lara and Charlie, and their children.

A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Walton's Funerals & Cremations in Reno on Saturday, December 2nd at 2 p.m.
