John "Jack" C. Hallahan passed away peacefully on November 18, 2017, at the age of 92. He was a third generation Nevadan, born in San Francisco while his mother was visiting her sister on October 29, 1925, to Francis "Pete" and Anna Hallahan.

Survivors include Jim Hallahan from his first marriage to Bertie Burchett in 1947 and John Hallahan from his second marriage to Jean Mathia in 1965. He was preceded in death by his daughter Brenda Reed in 1991. He is survived by five grandchildren, James "Shannon" Reed, Trinity Lee Reed, Jennifer Krichbaum (Kevin) of Scottsdale, Arizona, Jason and Morgan Hallahan of Reno, great-grandchildren, Noah, Jodie, Connor, and Jack. He is also survived by his brother Robert "Bob" Hallahan of Reno and nephews Randy and Rick Hallahan.

Jack attended Southside Elementary School, Billinghurst Junior High School, and Reno High School. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II as a paratrooper at Fort Benning, Georgia.

A pioneer in the construction industry, Jack held a Nevada Unlimited Contractors license. In the early years, he constructed his own custom home as well as several rental properties in old southwest Reno. In 1952, Jack built and owned Hallahan's Cottages in Lake Tahoe. His circle of friends included Frank Sinatra as they worked together on the remodel of the Cal-Neva Lodge. Some of Sinatra's band members stayed in Jack's cottages. Jack, with his brother and their lifelong friend, Bill Gadda, built and owned the Harvard Court Townhouses, the Colonial Motor Inn, and the Colonial Hotel and Casino.

Jack's rebellious life will forever produce lively and entertaining tales about a man with an unrestrained and spontaneous personality. The Hallahan family would like to extend a special thank you to Jack's great caregivers, Trudy, Eugenia, Susan and Randy. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date with private interment at Mountain View Cemetery in Reno, Nevada.
