Obituary for Thomas Griffin

Thomas Griffin passed away on October 18, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.
Tom was born on November 10, 1948 to Clifford S. and Clara P. Griffin in Inglewood, California as the second of five children. Tom spent an idyllic childhood in Anaheim, California where he often served as the Disneyland tour guide for many friends and family.
In 1974, Tom moved to Reno and started work at the Eldorado Hotel and Casino. It was there that he meet a young college girl named Debbie with whom he became fast friends and would eventually marry.
Tom & Debbie were married for 35 years and in 1987, they welcomed their oldest son, Tommy, into the world. Their second son Nick would follow a year later in 1988. The births of his sons were some of the happiest days of his life.
Upon the birth of his sons, Tom decided to retire and take on the most challenging and rewarding job of all, stay-at-home dad. It was also at this time that Tom developed a passion for cooking. We are certain that St. Peter met him at the pearly gates with an apron in one hand and a spatula in the other!
Tom made friends wherever he went and was known for his quick wit and sarcasm, a gift he retained until the very end.
Tom is predeceased by his parents, Cliff and Clara Griffin. He is survived by his wife, Debbie, sons, Tommy and Nick, his brothers, Mike (Diana), Steve (Greer), Mark (Miki) and his sister, Debbie (Barry) Bernardi.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Walton’s Sierra Chapel, 875 West Second Street, Reno on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 10:30 a.m.
