It is with much sorrow we announce our beloved, Rev. Thurman Carthen, Sr., age 86, passed into eternal life on August 12, 2017 at his home. Thurman is survived by his wife, Mae Ella Carthen, his 9 children, 28 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 11:00am at The First Baptist Church at 100 Coretta Way, Black Springs. The viewing/visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Walton’s Funerals & Cremations – O’Brien-Rogers & Crosby, 600 West 2nd
Street. A second viewing will take place before the service on August 23, 2017 from 10:00am to 10:45am at First Baptist Church of Black Springs.

Thurman will be laid to rest at Sierra Memorial Gardens.
