Obituary for Marjorie A. Kerr

MARJORIE KERR, age 88, of Reno, Nevada, gave in to cancer on June 24, 2017.

Margie was born to Albert and Ruth Russell of Modesto, CA on January 11, 1929.

Marge graduated from Modesto JC, in 1949, where she was elected Homecoming Queen and Basketball Tournament Queen. She was a homemaker and had natural artistic ability with oil painting and stained glass.

During the Korean War, while her husband John was an Officer in the Corp of Engineers at Fort Belvoir, VA, Marge, after extensive clearance in order to work at the Pentagon, was an accomplished secretary to the office of Admiral Radford, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

During their 66 years of marriage, Marge and John enjoyed Ballroom Dancing at numerous traditional jazz festivals and for 25 years at the Senior Center in Reno, along with yearly Snowbird trips to Yuma, AZ, as well as enjoying the beautiful scenery and activities at their cabin in Graeagle, CA.

Margie was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Vivian and Bill Oates; parents, Albert and Ruth Russell. She leaves numerous family members: spouse, John Kerr; sister, Doris Krepela (Marvin); son, Kevin Kerr, daughter, Kandee Chaney; grandchildren, Amanda Leeper (Jeff), Emily Merson (Keith), Josh Kerr; great-grandchildren: Greyden and Bowen Leeper, Scarlett Merson.

Margie was deeply loved by her family and admired by all those who met her. She will be significantly missed and forever cherished.

Family and close friends will participate in a Celebration of Life at a later date.
