Obituary for Linda Garner Titus

Linda Garner Titus – Obituary
Linda Garner Titus was born Linda Kay Garner on April 24, 1947 to Dorothy and Jay Garner in Chico, CA. Linda grew up with her older sister Barbara and two younger brothers, Robert and David in Chico on a ranch where she was active in 4H and church activities. She graduated from Chico High School in 1965, then went on to attend Trinity Junior College in Langley, British Columbia. While there, she met Ronald Titus. They were married on January 27, 1968 in Chico CA. That day will be remembered by all those attending the wedding as the coldest day of the year, with snow in Chico. After a brief honeymoon in Lake Tahoe, the young couple set up home in El Cerrito, CA.
A year later, Ron was drafted and signed up with the Navy. The couple moved to Annapolis, MD, where their son, Marcus Raymond, was born in July of 1970. Melissa Renee joined the family in December of 1971. The family lived in Long Beach until Ron was discharged from the Navy in December of 1972.
The family moved back to the Bay Area where Ron and Linda attended the El Sobrante Evangelical Free Church. Linda worked at Chevron in Richmond until 1987 when she became the church secretary. She then worked at the Housing Authority in San Pablo until Ron and Linda left the Bay Area and moved to Carson City, NV in 1997. There, Linda worked for Child Care Services until her retirement at age 60. She was always a hard-working, dependable employee and loved by her coworkers.
In retirement, Linda quilted, travelled, and visited family. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren who were all very dear to her heart. Every year she attended the WWII 461st B-24 Bomb Group Reunion. She originally began attending with her father in the early 90’s but continued attending with her sister after his death. Her favorite past times were sewing for her family and friends and enjoying her talk shows. She was a wonderful cook and was well-known for her delicious gravy. Linda was a joyful person who loved the Lord. She attended many Bible studies at her home churches and her love for Jesus was apparent in her actions every day. Ron and Linda worshipped at Reno Christian Fellowship in Reno where Linda attended Women In the Word and served in their JEMS Ministry to assist mothers of young children. She was a humble and selfless person, always willing to help.
Linda went to be with Jesus on April 20, 2017. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Robert Garner. She is survived by her devoted husband of 49 years - Ronald Titus, as well as her sister - Barbara Alden, brother - David Garner, son - Marcus Titus and his wife Debbie, daughter – Melissa and husband Scott Cliatt, grandchildren – Cody, Austin & Kaitlyn Titus, and Joseph, Jacob and Jillian Cliatt, and multiple nieces and nephews.
