Obituary for Edward Filbin

Edward Joseph Filbin, age 83, passed away Monday, April 10, 2017 at his home in Fernley, Nevada. Ed was born on August 26, 1933 to Patrick H. and Margaret A. Filbin in Kingfisher, Oklahoma. He was the oldest of 6 children. He started school in Hereford, Texas.
Later his family moved to Manteca, California, where he graduated from Manteca Union High School in 1951. After graduation he attended UC Davis as an Ag Student.
He married Mary Etta Peerson on April 12, 1953. They would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary this April 12th. Ed and Mary Etta raised 4 children, David, Anne (Harp), Joseph and Elaine (Koch). They have 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Ed worked on the family ranch, drove livestock trucks, and owned and operated several trucking companies at various times. He was a licensed private pilot for over 10 years, and raised cattle, sheep and goats.
Over the years, he lived in California, Texas and Nevada. Ed was a member of the Interstate 5 Association, the Patterson School Board, and the Nevada Woolgrowers Association.
Visitation will be held at Walton's Funeral Home in Reno, NV on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 2:00pm.
Visitation will also be held at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home in Manteca, CA on Monday, April 17, 2017 from 3:00pm – 5:00pm. Private graveside services will be held Tuesday, April 18th at St. John's Cemetery in Escalon.
