Obituary for Elaine Edgar Johnson
Elaine Edgar Johnson passed away in her sleep at age 94 on Friday, February 17, 2017. Elaine was born October 12, 1922 in Manassas, Colorado. She was the ninth child of eleven, born to Willis L. Edgar and Jessie M. Cox Edgar. Her brothers and sisters in order of birth – Zell, Avva and Ova (twins), Travis G., Willis E. (Pete), J. M. (Cutler), John H. and Jim D. (twins) called Dick and Ben, and younger sisters Lucille and LaDell. Elaine is survived by Lucille who lives in Salt Lake City.
James Kline Johnson and Elaine Edgar were married September 23, 1940 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on April 18, 1960. They were blessed with a son, Dennis Kline, born October 10, 1941 and a daughter, Karen Elaine, born September 2, 1948. After WWII, they settled in Fernley, NV. Elaine and Jim enjoyed a life filled with love of family and traveling the world together. They were married 49 years when Jim passed away on September 25, 1989. They have 3 granddaughters and 7 great grandchildren – wonderful children! Dennis and Carol, both born in Tonopah, are parents of Ardis Elaine Parmer (Jay) and Jill Coreen Fielden (Scott). Karen Elaine Johnson McKim (Rick), mother of Charlotte Lucy Kent (Tim) and stepdaughter Allison McKim. Karen preceded her mother in death.
Great grandchildren are Amanda Carol, Morgan Louis, Mary Kate and Ainsley Grace Parmer and Kline Thomas, Jane Carol and Bryce Scott Fielden who lovingly called her Bea. In the absence of Jim, her family has been the source of her strength. She never wanted to be without them and believed that families can be together forever in Heavenly Father’s Plan. Elaine was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be dearly missed by all.
A graveside service will be held Monday, February 27, at 1 p.m. at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Fernley, NV. In lieu of flowers, please spend time with or send a bouquet to a loved one.
