Obituary for Max Vernon Grimm

Max was born to Vernon and Marie Grimm on December 28, 1932 in Dover, Ohio.

After graduating from Wooster Highway School in Parral, Ohio, he worked as an apprentice watchmaker before joining the Air Force in 1952.

He served during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in North Africa, England and, mostly, at Stead Air Force Base in Reno, Nevada. While at Stead AFB, he met the love of his life, Marge, on a blind date. They were married in August of 1954. They had one kid, Mike. Marge preceded Max in death in 2012.

Max was a member of the American Legion and coached baseball there.
He was an avid fisherman and kept the neighborhood well supplied with fresh fish. He and Marge were avid trailer campers and belonged to Sierra Silver Wheels Trailer Club for many years.

He worked as an electrician for 39 years. First, as a sign electrician installing and servicing much of the neon in downtown Reno’s ‘Glitter Gulch’ during the 50’s and 60’ and then, later in his career, as an inside wireman working on many of the large Northern Nevada construction projects of the 80’s and 90’s.
He was a dedicated 60 year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local Union 401.

After retiring in 1995, he worked as an amateur home handyman which kept him out of the house and mostly out of trouble!

Services for Max will take place on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Walton’s Sierra Chapel, 875 W. Second St., Reno. A viewing will be held at 10:00 am, with the service starting at 11:00 am.
