Obituary for Wayne A. Frediani
Wayne A. Frediani passed away on February 1, 2017. Wayne was a native resident of Reno-Sparks born to Syl and Paula Frediani.
He graduated from Sparks High School and the University of Nevada, Reno. Upon graduation Wayne went to work for Harrah’s Entertainment in human resources and employment relations. In November of 1987, he changed careers to become the Assistant Executive Director of the Nevada Franchised Auto Dealers Association. In January 1998, Wayne was promoted to the ATAE position of Executive Director of the NFADA. He served that position for 28 years representing Nevada’s Franchised Auto Dealers. Throughout his career, he received several awards representing the Nevada Franchised Auto Dealers Association. His other affiliations included the Prospector’s Club, Nevada Legacy Society, NATAEA Emeritus, St. Jude Society Member, Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center Society Member.
Wayne served on numerous boards and committees in the Reno-Sparks community. He was a long-time member of the Athletic Association of University of Nevada and the Nevada Alumni Association. Wayne was a founding member of the Starting 5 group providing support for the University of Nevada basketball program. In 2012, he established the Wayne A. Frediani Scholarship Endowment fund. Wolfpack athletics and team sports were a lifelong love of Wayne his entire life. As a young boy, he would join his father on collegiate officiating road trips which sprouted his love of sports. His other interests included the Reno Men’s Golf Club and Ducks Unlimited along with all college basketball and football events.
He is survived by his mother and father, Paula and Sylvano; brother Paul; aunt, Sandra Foley; uncle Bob (Terry) Cecchini; cousins: Lorrie, John (Kristi) and Joe Foley, Mike (Nancy) Cecchini, Leslie (Marvin) Cochran, and Bobbi (Dana) McKinney.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: University of Nevada, Reno Foundation C/O Wayne A. Frediani Scholarship Endowment or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
There will be a viewing from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, February 9th, 2017 at Walton's: O' Brien,Rogers & Crosby Funeral Home, 600 W. 2nd Street Reno, NV. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 10th, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church located at 2900 N. McCarran, Sparks, NV 89431. ENTER THE CHURCH FROM PYRAMID WAY AND EMERSON WAY DURING ROAD CONSTRUCTION.
A luncheon reception will follow at The Eldorado Hotel and Casino.
In honor of Wayne’s love for the University of Nevada, Reno you are encouraged to wear the Wolfpack colors.
