Obituary for Dennis Robert (Rob) Anderson

Dennis Robert (Rob) Anderson passed away suddenly on September 13, 2016 in Reno, NV. Rob was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on July 19, 1948. He was the eldest son of William and Ruthe Anderson. He graduated from Santa Barbara High School. He graduated from Cal Lutheran University in 1971 with a degree in history and a teaching credential. He taught school in Southern California until 1980. Then he returned to Santa Barbara to help run the family business.
He was a successful insurance agent for Farmers in the Santa Barbara area. He retired in 2006 and later made his home in Reno. Rob was very happily retired. He was active in Reno as a Senior Volunteer and at the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.
He was an active member of First Congregational Church of Reno, singing in their choir, was an active member of their Missions Committee, and was the Council Secretary this year.
He loved singing with the Nevada Gay Men's Chorus, and made many enduring friendships. Rob began singing in choirs at the age of 5 in Tampa, Florida, and loved singing for all of his life.
Rob will be greatly missed. He was a kind and gentle man. Shortly before his death, Rob had just returned from a trip to Alaska with his companion, Bob Broili. This trip complete his goal of visiting all 50 states.
He is survived by his mother, Ruthe Anderson, his sisters, Martie Tracy (Gary) and Kathy North (Jim), his nieces and nephews and their families, and his good friend Bob Broili.
Please join us for a Memorial Service of Rob's life on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at First Congregational (UCC) Church, located at 627 Sunnyside Drive at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Northern Nevada Hopes, to the heart association or to your favorite charity.
